• Stronger security - Passkeys utilize device biometrics to verify a user credentials , which cannot be easily lost, forgotten, guessed, or duplicated by a hacker
• Passkeys cannot be phished, since it's linked to the specific website or application that requested it and cannot be used on a malicious or fraudulent site
• Account recovery is easier - even if users lose or break the device

How it works

FIDO and W3C standards are used for implementing the Passkeys, as well as public-key cryptography. The underlying security is improved since our product does not use passwords but key pairs instead. A new key pair is generated when a user registers an account on a website or application. Because the public key is the public half of a pair, it does not require protection on the application server. During the sign-in process, the device stores the private key.

In place of using a password, users can use their phones to authenticate during registration. Phone unlock mechanisms (FaceID, Fingerprint, Passcode, etc.) protect the user's phone as their login method.

This authentication flow is web-based and doesn't require the installation of an app.

‘Passes’ or Verifiable Credentials

The LoginID User Verification and Passkey button, also holds ‘Passes’ or verifiable credentials. We believe that your identity touches upon many aspects of your digital experiences. At every touchpoint your identity requires providing credentials to an entity. We call these credentials ‘Passes’. These Passes can help individuals create and share their identities and claims reliably with organizations.

You are the holder of these passes

And Passes are stored in your customers digital dashboard. You will get to control who Passes are shared with, and when as required for verification purposes.

• Create basic Passes, such as email or mobile number, which end-users can create as a part of their profile for future verification purposes
• Permissively share with other parties, websites or merchants

Once LoginID button is added to your site, you will be able to login to LoginID Dashboard and:

• Add passwordless to additional Webflow projects (by creating new applications)
• View active users and revoke user access
• Manage your own devices (add, rename, etc)
• ID Token Validation. If Webflow users are using their own backend that our ID token can be passed to for validation.
